Sarah D. Evans

Sarah D. Evans is a GIS professional with 15 years of industry experience in upstream oil and gas exploration, currently completing a Master of Geographic Information Science & Technology at NC State University (May 2026).

Over her career she has received 136 hours of continuing education from ESRI and certified instructors, and has worked across the full spectrum of GIS applications — from creating executive decision-making maps to designing web-based spatial products that broaden data access across organizations.

Her interests are wide-ranging: writing, literature, the natural world, geology, anthropology, and the endlessly complex relationship between people and place. These passions inform her approach to GIS — not just as a technical discipline, but as a tool for translating the world’s vast information into meaningful insight and impactful action.

Her goals include achieving ESRI GIS certification, deepening her expertise in data analysis and machine learning workflows, and expanding the use of spatial thinking in research and analytics.
